Lets Talk: Pokemon X and Y

Hello, defenders of Pokemon. Lets talk about the game Pokemon fanatics are raving about:

Pokemon X and Y are coming out globally on October 12, 2013 for the 3DS. How exciting is that? Lets discuss what makes this game so unique other than the fact it's in 3D.

There are the new starter Pokemon: Froakie, Fenneken, and Chespin.

A new villain, Team Flare, who seem quite fashionable in their red leather. Hm.

A new region called the Kalos region.

 And, of course, new trainers.

This version of Pokemon doesn't shrink the characters into sprites, but uses the 3D to make the characters become actual forms. The characters can sit down and walk/run diagonally (everyone seems to be impressed with walking diagonal). Also, this game introduces a new type, the Fairy Type, which is made to be very effective against Dragon Types (so many memes...).

Now lets talk about some new features, starting with Pokemon Amie:

This new feature allows you to pet, feed and mimic your Pokemon to make them more friendly.

You can now customize your character:

Changing the skin tone is just one way. You can add accessories as well.

Nintendo has also added two new battling features to the game:

Horde battles: Where the trainer faces up to 5 same or different Pokemon.

Flying battles: Using a Pokemon that either flies or levitates activates the flying battles (both Pokemon must be flying or levitating).

Nintendo has switched up the running feature and added skates and now you can ride your Pokemon!

They've brought in a whole new collection of Pokemon as well, but the list is still growing.

Wii U Review

Greetings, fellow gamers. This is only a small review about the Wii U, so lets get started.

First of all, lets discuss the design:

Looks very smooth and shiny. It's a bit bigger than the Wii, but not by much. The console is shown to be laid on its side though you can prop it up like the Wii. Overall, it has a very nice and convenient design. A downside is that the plugs are not too versatile. Although you can use the Wii plug that connects to the TV for the Wii U if you don't have HDMI, like myself. Using that method changes the gaming quality. Another negative is that the Wii U doesn't have an area where you can plug in GameCube remotes or memory cards. So obviously you cannot play GameCube games on this console unless you hack it. The Wii U also doesn't support the Wii channels or WiiConnect24.

  Time for the remote's design:

It's slightly on the bulky side, but that is to be expected. The screen is wide enough for gameplay and the cool thing is that sometimes you don't even need to use the TV screen to play a game. You can watch TV while playing a game. I see that as a win-win situation. But anyways, the remote also comes with a stand, stylus, and with a plug to recharge it. Thankfully you don't have to keep adding batteries to it like the Wii remote (unless you have a rechargeable battery for that).

The games itself have a clean and clear view filled with amazing details and 3D design.

I hope this small review helped anyone who has been teetering back and forth on whether or not you want to buy this console. What are your opinions on the Wii U?     - Dany

Through the Years: Super Smash Bros.

Well, hello to anyone who comes across this blog. Welcome to where I, Dany, and my Co-Owner will be uploading reviews and the latest game information.

Today's post will be about Super Smash Bros. We'll be taking a look at the differences of the N64 version and the newest version coming out in 2014. I don't know about you, but I personally love taking a look in the past and seeing how much development went into games. But anyways, lets get started with the game that started it all:

Now, lets take a look at some of the main characters usually shown first in the opening videos:

Well aren't they nice and boxy? But hey, this was pretty amazing back then. Even with the poor graphics Nintendo made these guys come to life nicely. Also, the speed in this game was significantly slower than the ones after. I don't know if you guys experienced this, but my game slightly glitched when someone went flying off the screen.

Whoo, look at that improvement! The characters have become slightly more round and realistic, but they still have cartoonish looks. Even the logo had some adjustments made. The speed in this game is incredibly fast. I stopped playing Brawl for a bit to mess around on this game and I could barely stop myself from falling off the edge. This game introduced the side scrolling during the Classic Mode. Also, the opening movie for this game had me thinking, "Wait, we're playing as trophies?!" I thought that was such an amazing and creative idea!

And the realism begins. Especially on Link, but poor Kirby. The changes are there, yet subtle. Most of their cartoonish features seen in the last game are gone. This game has "normal" speed. It's not too fast and not too slow. This game took a leap and made an actual story so that you could unlock all the characters called The Subspace Emissary. I think it made the game a little more entertaining, yet a little long to unlock all the characters (especially if you're a huge procrastinator like me).

When I first saw the characters in this game I was in complete awe. The design is absolutely amazing and life-like. Little is known about the game so far, but I'll get into detail about this game in another post.

Lets look at the stages improvement:

This stage, Battlefield, has been shown some love throughout the years. The design is a lot more detailed than I ever thought it would be considering the type of game this is.

Even though there is a lot of improvement in the game, some things stay the same such as one of my favorite reoccurring bosses:

Master Hand and Crazy Hand. Unfortunately, neither were shown in the N64 version. Master Hand and his counterpart first showed up in the GameCube version, as most of you know. In Melee, you fight Master Hand as a normal boss at the end of the Classic Mode, but if you defeat him in just enough time you face his crazy partner. In Brawl, Master Hand shows in the Subspace Emissary being controlled by the final boss (wont say anymore because of a huge spoiler alert). I forget where Crazy Hand is, but I believe he's in the Boss Mode. Out of the two, Crazy Hand is my favorite. He's less composed and more destructive and wild.

That concludes today's post. I hope it wasn't too long and was somewhat entertaining.
How do you guys feel about the Super Smash Bros. series?   - Dany
